In June 2025, the Northern Ireland Assembly Education Committee tabled an Assembly Motion for debate on restrictive practices in educational settings in Northern Ireland.
Ahead of the debate, which took place on 30 June 2025, the Reviewer provided Education Committee members with the below advisory statement, supporting the call for the repeal of article 4(1)(c) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
